I bought the $1,299 Schiit Urd CD transport...
Hi Everyone,
I love all things analog, but I grew up mostly listening to CDs and therefore have owned many traditional CD players over the years.
As vinyl prices continue to rise, I've begun to venture back into the digital world (who can pass up a CD copy of Miles Davis' A Silent Way CD for just $1?) and stumbled into the rabbit hole of external DACs and CD transports.
What is a CD transport? In short, it's a CD player that does not have an internal DAC so you have to connect it to an external DAC or a preamp/amp with a built in DAC in order to hear music playback.
I've read how transports can sound better than traditional CD players due to reducing jitter during playback, so when Schiit Audio announced their new Urd transport, I jumped at buying one, even though the price was $1,299!
Today, I posted a YouTube detailing my experience with the Urd and compared the sound against my other traditional CD players.
Did I hear a difference in sound? Let's just say...I was surprised!
